Most luxury brands were arguably very late to having a presence on social media platforms. This wasn’t an accident as luxury brands have to work extra hard to curate the content that they share because it all has a conscious or unconscious effect on how their brand is perceived. Luxury brands sell dreams.
In that same vein, we face a similar issue when considering new technologies like VR or AR to showcase products. Having unfettered access to a digital version of a luxury product could possibly go against years of hard work a luxury brand has done in crafting that perfect visual story. We know this danger as we specialise in creating films showcasing watches and each shot has to be meticulously composed to be able to sell the dream of luxury.
However, there is great potential to use these technologies to showcase other aspects of luxury brands. Unique in-house movements can be presented - ie. below; the high level manufacturing process could be shown off.
